Who is / What is

Ceramic studio and concept store in Palma (C. Sant Feliu 17). It is directed by Roberto Paparcone Branchini (southern Italy, 1971), an architect trained in Naples, Delft and San Sebastián; co-founded 5Lab Design Studio in Barcelona. Artisan letter no. 898 from the Consell de Mallorca. Wheel-turned ceramics, “slow handcrafted design”.

Featured work

  • Sa Gerreta (2023): piece that mixes pottery, design and local tradition, inspired by findings from the excavation of the Santa Catalina convent in Palma. Artisanal Promotion Award 2023.
  • Collections of tableware and objects (Amalfi, Creta candles, Slowkind 2021).
  • Interior design commissions: Es Blau des Nord hotel (Mallorca), Arab Baths (Barcelona), Riu hotels (Madrid, New York).
  • Es Baluard dedicated a proposal to him in its program “Design and Innovation in the Balearic Islands” (year to be verified).

Relationship with the office

History

  • 2019: with the Made in Mallorca collective at Aba Art Lab (Palma) and London Design Fair.
  • 2023: Artisanal Promotion Award (€5,000) for Sa Gerreta.
  • 2025: Design and Artisan Innovation Award, XII Crafts Awards of Mallorca (gala in Es Baluard).

Why is indigenous design

An architect who becomes a gerrer: he reads the ceramics excavated in Palma and returns them as a design object, with awards from the Consell in two editions.

For the project

  • Sa Gerreta as an exhibition piece “archaeology design”.
  • Lathe workshop for readers; Paparcone already offers courses and creative direction.
